Dr. Jim Teo is a specialist in Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, and Intensive Care Medicine at The Respiratory Practice, Singapore. Dr. Teo is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Chapter of Respiratory Physicians, Singapore), Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, United States), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, United Kingdom), and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, United Kingdom). He also holds European Diplomas in Intensive Care Medicine (European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine, Europe) and Adult Respiratory Medicine (European Diploma in Adult Respiratory Medicine, Europe). Prior to private practice, he served as Consultant in Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, managing critically ill patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, including cases during the H1N1 outbreak and tuberculosis care. He contributed to the introduction of bedside percutaneous tracheostomy and played an active role during the SARS outbreak, for which he received the Courage Star Award in 2003. He is currently Director of Critical Care in private hospitals, serves on multiple clinical committees including ICU and infectious disease, and is a certified trainer for intensive care and life support courses. He is also a former Clinical Teacher at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
