Dr. Tan Chyn Hong 滕振宏医生

Dr. Tan Chyn Hong is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in shoulder, knee, and elbow conditions, as well as sports injury management. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 1998 and later completed fellowship training in Australia, where he received advanced subspecialty training in shoulder, knee, and elbow surgery. During his fellowship, he was actively involved in treating professional athletes with sports injuries alongside patients with degenerative conditions such as rotator cuff tears and arthritis of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Tan pioneered the technique of implantless arthroscopic rotator cuff shoulder surgery in Singapore and became the first surgeon in the country to perform keyhole rotator cuff repair without using metal or plastic implants. Prior to private practice, he served as Head of the Division of Sports Medicine at the National University Hospital, where he led a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive care for athletes. His patients included national athletes across basketball, netball, canoeing, judo, taekwondo, and football. A former national judo athlete representing Singapore at the SEA Games, Dr. Tan remains passionate about helping athletes recover and return to active lifestyles. He also contributed to Singapore’s national clinical practice guidelines for Osteoarthritis of the Knee under the Ministry of Health. In 2007, he received the inaugural College of Surgeons Gold Medal from the Academy of Medicine Singapore for outstanding performance in the Royal College of Surgeons Orthopaedic Surgery fellowship examination.
