Dr. Gerard Leong Kui Toh

Dr. Gerard Leong is a Specialist in Cardiology with subspecialty expertise in echocardiography imaging, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, cardio-oncology, and resistant hypertension management. He also has a strong clinical focus on ischemic heart disease, particularly in optimizing decisions around coronary stenting or bypass surgery, and in reducing long-term risks such as stroke and dementia. Dr. Leong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1994 and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2001. He achieved specialist accreditation in Cardiology in Singapore in 2005. He subsequently served as Senior Consultant at the Department of Cardiology, Changi General Hospital (CGH) from 2012 to 2017, where he was also the Director of the Heart Failure Program from 2006 to 2017. He underwent advanced fellowship training in heart failure and transplant cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, under the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from 2007 to 2008. He further completed advanced training in renal sympathetic denervation for hypertension and heart failure at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, in 2013 under a second HMDP scholarship. In 2015, he obtained Diplomate certification from the American National Board of Echocardiography in Adult Echocardiography. From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Leong served as Medical Director at Thomson Cardiology Centre before establishing his own practice. He has published extensively in heart failure and resistant hypertension, with a focus on evidence-based cardiovascular care to improve patient outcomes.
