Low Wong Kein Christopher

Dr Low Wong Kein is a ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore. He subspecialises in the treatment of ear disorders and hearing loss in children and adults, particularly for those who may require a cochlear implant, which is the use of an electronic medical device for damaged inner ears. He has performed more than 500 cochlear implant surgeries in both children and adults in Singapore and overseas, such as Indonesia, Malaysia and China. Dr Low completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He then pursued specialist training in ENT and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow and of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. Thereafter, Dr Low underwent advanced training in Australia to treat ear conditions, such as hearing loss, vertigo (giddiness), tinnitus (noise in ear), ear infections and tumours. He has also been conferred a Doctor of Philosophy for his work on ear disorders. Khoo Kei Siong

Loh Yee Jim

This stint equipped her with skills for pelvic oncologic surgery and laparoscopic procedures. She has since performed minimally invasive surgery on selected women with endometrial and ovarian cancers. To improve public education on the detection and prevention of female cancers, Dr Pang has actively organised activities at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and the Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology of Singapore (SCCPS). She previously ran a weekly preinvasive (abnormal Pap smear and pre-cancerous change) clinic in the obstetrics and gynaecology centre at SGH. She also represented SGH in the Women’s Gynaecological Cancers Awareness Month steering committee organised by the Singapore Cancer Society in 2017. She has also been serving as a council member in the SCCPS since 2009 and was the society's treasurer from 2014 – 2015. Dr Pang was awarded the Tony McCartney Surgical Innovation prize at the Australian Society of Gynaecological Oncologists Annual Scientific Meeting at Darwin in 2013. She has also participated as a facilitator at various workshops, such as the Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Masterclass in Perth, Australia in 2012 and the 'Anatomy of Complications' series of workshops in Perth and Singapore. Dr Pang is a clinical instructor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and an adjunct professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. She also assists the division of graduate medical studies at the National University Hospital, Singapore in assessing trainees for in-hospital clinical training modules on colposcopy.

Paul OngMRCP (UK)

Dr Paul Ong is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He subspecialises in interventional cardiology. He was one of the earliest to adopt trans-radial approach in coronary angioplasty when the technique was still in its infancy. He also played a pivotal role in introducing and adopting modern cardiology technologies in the Asia-Pacific. This included renal denervation for hypertension, intravascular lithotripsy for treating calcified blood vessels, and the Impella heart pump to protect the very sick patients during high-risk angioplasty. He is also the earliest cardiologist to perform robotic-assisted angioplasty in Southeast Asia. Dr Ong graduated with honours from the University of Cambridge Medical School, and pursued his cardiology specialist training in heart centres at Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, and Harefield Hospitals. He was appointed NHS cardiology consultant and Cathlab director at the Lister Hospital and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust in 2006. He was subsequently elected as Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2008. After spending 23 years studying and working in England, he relocated to Singapore in 2009, and headed the interventional cardiology service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Over the next 10 years, Dr Ong and his team brought about many practice changes in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His clinical experience in the UK and Asia as a senior doctor gave him a global prospective of managing heart disease while remaining sensitive to the nuances of local practice. In the last decade, he has made over a hundred trips to lecture and proctor angioplasty practice in Asia, and has trained many cardiology fellows in the UK and throughout Southeast Asia. He was instrumental in securing funding to train and develop the heart attack angioplasty programme in Myanmar. Dr Ong is the founding chairman of both the Asia Primary Angioplasty Congress (APAC) and the Asia Physiology and Coronary Imaging Course (APACi) to promote a high standard of cardiac care in Asia. He is one of the few interventional cardiologists from Singapore to initiate his own international multi-centre clinical trials. He was also the principal investigator of over 20 large-scale randomised clinical trials. He has supervised the research work of fellow cardiologists over the years and got their results presented in international scientific conferences. He has over 60 high-impact scientific publications in renowned medical journals. In recognition of his reputation in the field of interventional cardiology, he has been invited to sit in organising committee of scientific meetings and the advisory boards. In his spare time, Dr Ong enjoys travelling, photography and jogging. He is happily married to a paediatric specialist and has two young adult sons.

Ng Hua Bak Ivan

In 2000, he was admitted as an inter-collegiate fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (surgical neurology) and at the same time, was awarded the Norman Dott Medal for most outstanding performance. He introduced high-flow EC-IC bypass operations for complex neurosurgical scenarios and performed the earliest awake craniotomy for brain tumour in Parkway in 2012. He performs 150 to 180 major neurosurgical operations a year. He is the course director for the Aesculap Academy in minimally invasive neurosurgery and the AO Foundation course director for neurotrauma in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also the past vice-president of the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and executive committee member at the Society of Intensive Care Medicine (Singapore) and the Asia Pacific Brain Injury Consortium. Dr Ng is an associate professor and director of the brain and behaviour programme at Duke-NUS Medical School. He is also an external lecturer at the School of Health Sciences at Nanyang Polytechnic, as well as an external examiner for the conjoined Edinburgh-Hong Kong Neurosurgery exit examinations.
