Dr. Loh Yee Jim

Dr Loh Yee Jim is a cardiothoracic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. His research interests lie in paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery, adult heart surgery, and endoscopic vein harvesting. Dr Loh has been in medical practice for more than 18 years, and was trained in paediatric cardiothoracic surgery at the Boston Children’s Hospital, an affiliate of the Harvard Medical School, in the US. Upon his return to Singapore, Dr Loh headed the paediatric cardiothoracic surgery department at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital until 2018. In addition to paediatric heart surgery, he is also actively involved in adult cardiac surgical work. In Singapore, he pioneered the use of minimally invasive video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) surgery to assist in the closure of atrial septal defects. Dr Loh is experienced in performing a series of aortic valve-sparing root replacement procedures in the country. Dr Loh is the programme and medical director at the National Cardiovascular Homograft bank in Singapore. He is also deeply involved in the SingHealth Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency programme. Dr Loh played an active role in the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) programme at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He was also the co-director of the National Paediatric Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device programmes.
