Annabelle Leong Chooi Kien

Dr Annabelle Leong is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. Barrie Tan Yau Boon

Dr Barrie Tan is an ENT specialist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He is experienced in managing ENT conditions such as sinus problems, snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea, allergic rhinitis, voice problems, thyroid nodules, neck lumps, hearing loss, tinnitus and giddiness. Dr Tan is a President’s Scholar and has over 20 years of clinical and surgical experience. For more than 6 years, he was a senior consultant and the head of the department of otolaryngology (ENT) at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). During his tenure, he routinely managed and operated on young children with ENT conditions. He is well known for his expertise in treating hearing loss, as well as performing endoscopic ear surgeries. Dr Tan introduced endoscopic ear surgeries in SGH in 2014 and has been actively spearheading its adoption and development in Singapore since. He has performed over 100 ear surgeries endoscopically, ranging the entire gamut of different ear surgeries. These include endoscopic tympanoplasty, myringoplasty, tympanomastoidectomy, ossiculoplasty, stapedotomy and stapedectomy, as well as endoscopic facial nerve decompression. He trained at the Ear Science Institute Australia upon completion of his specialist ENT training, and performed complex ear surgeries, cochlear implantations and other hearing implant surgeries independently during his surgical fellowship. Upon his return to Singapore, he was appointed as the director of the Centre for Hearing and Ear Implants at SGH and held the directorship for almost 7 years. He is also an experienced cochlear implant surgeon, having personally performed several hundred cochlear implant surgeries in Singapore and countries like Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh. He is often invited to lecture at international conferences on his experience in cochlear implant surgeries, and invited as an instructor in specialised ear surgery workshops and courses. He has served as a course director in numerous symposia and masterclasses in cochlear implant surgery, such as the Singapore General Hospital Cochlear Implant Surgery Masterclass Course in 2017 and 2018. He is passionate about bringing surgical innovations and updates in medical technology to Singapore and the Southeast Asian region, and is an early adopter of approved innovative surgical techniques and surgical hearing implants. In particular, Dr Tan performed the inaugural surgeries and implantations of the following cochlear implant devices in Southeast Asia: Advanced Bionics 3D Cochlear Implant (2019) and Advanced Bionics Ultra Cochlear Implant (2017). He has also performed the inaugural surgeries and implantations of the following specialised hearing implants in Singapore: Transcutaenous Cochlear ATTRACT Bone Anchored Hearing Aid Implant (2015), Cochlear Carina Implant (2014), Cochlear CI 532 cochlear implant (2018), and Advanced Bionics Slim J cochlear implant (2018). He is also an avid teacher, spending much of his time teaching and nurturing the next generation of ENT surgeons. From 2012 – 2014, he was the director of the SingHealth ENT Residency Training Program. Besides being a surgical innovator, Dr Tan is also an administrative innovator. In this capacity, he helped to coordinate the development of multidisciplinary head and neck surgery capabilities and care of complex head and neck conditions in the various SingHealth hospitals and institutions. He also has a passion in building clinical teams. He began and developed the new ear, nose and throat surgery department at Sengkang General Hospital. He was the pro-tem head of the department of ENT at Sengkang General Hospital from 2013 – 2018, whilst concurrently being the head of the department of (ENT) at SGH. He relished the opportunity to forge a new dynamic team of ENT specialists, audiologists and nurses, and meticulously worked towards providing excellent ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgery services to the community in the north-eastern part of Singapore. Dr Tan was conferred the President’s Scholarship in 1994 by the Public Service Commission, and was awarded the scholarship to study medicine in the National University of Singapore. He excelled in medical school, topping his cohort and winning the Gibb’s Gold Medal in 1999, which is given to the top student in general proficiency over the 5-year course. He volunteers at the Canossian School, which runs a special education programme for children with hearing impairment and who wear hearing devices like hearing aids and cochlear implants. He examines the ears, removes ear wax and takes care of the ear health issues of the preschool children. He has also travelled overseas frequently to perform medical mission work in Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. He believes in utilising his skillsets to help communities in need, and therefore volunteers his time and effort pro bono on a regular basis. In the past, he performed ear surgeries like myringoplasties and mastoidectomies in rural communities. Dharambir Singh Sethi

Dr Dharambir Sethi is an ear, nose, throat (ENT) surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. He is a national and international leader in the field of Nose and Sinus Surgery. He is also a pioneer in the field of minimally invasive skull base surgery. Dr Sethi received his training in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He attained his Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in 1987. In 1993, he completed a clinical fellowship in rhinology and endoscopic sinus surgery at the Johns Hopkins University. Dr Sethi is a visiting consultant at the Department of Otolaryngology (SGH) as well as the Singapore National Eye Centre. In 2000, he was featured as an entrepreneur of the SGH. Goh Hood Keng Christopher

Dr Christopher Goh is a ear, nose, throat (ENT) surgeon with about 20 years experience in the field. He provides specialised care for patients with nose and throat conditions through his advance surgical techniques. He currently practices at his clinic in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He is also a Visiting Consultant to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and National Cancer Centre. Upon his graduation from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1985), Dr Goh obtained his postgraduate qualifications in Otolaryngology (FRCS Glasgow and Edinburgh, 1991). His training in Otolaryngology included a one-year stint at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland under the Health Manpower Development Programme Award. There, he was mentored by Professor Arnold Maran, a leading ENT-Head & Neck Surgeon in the United Kingdom. When he returned to Singapore, he completed his Advanced Specialist Training in Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery and was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. In 1995, through the SGH Scholarship, Dr Goh went on to do a year-long fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery in Toronto, Canada. Under the mentorship of Professor Patrick Gullane, a world renowned ENT-Head & Neck Surgeon, Dr Goh successfully completed his training and was awarded the American Head & Neck Society Joint Council Certification for Advanced Training in Head & Neck Oncology. Prior to his move to private practice, Dr Goh was the Head of Department and Senior Consultant of Otolaryngology at SGH. He remains a Visiting Consultant to the Hospital as well as to the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Teaching and moulding future generations of doctors is an aspect of medicine that Dr Goh has a passion for. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He was Chief Examiner of the Otolaryngology Exit Examinations from 2007 to 2012 and has been invited as an external examiner for several overseas examinations. Dr Goh has also previously served as the Chairman of the Specialist Training Committee in Otolaryngology and Chairman of the Residency Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health which oversees the training of residents in Singapore. Heah Hon Wei Harold

Hwang Siew Yoong Jason

Dr Hwang Siew Yoong Jason is an Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) surgeon. Dr Hwang was born in Malaysia and speaks fluent English and Malay. He was awarded the ASEAN scholarship by the Singapore government at the age of 12 and subsequently completed the rest of his education in Singapore. At the National University of Singapore, he was awarded the Tan Hiak Kew scholarship and completed his medical degree in 1996. His subsequent basic and advanced surgical training has given him extensive experience, having worked at all five major hospitals in Singapore. In 2006, with a scholarship from the Singapore Ministry of Health, Dr Hwang underwent sub-specialty rhinology training at McGill University and the University of Montreal in Canada. There, he was trained by Professor Martin Desrosiers in the management of difficult sinus diseases and complex endoscopic sinus surgery. In 2007, he subsequently worked with Professor Ludger Klimek at the Center for Rhinology and Allergy in Wiesbaden, Germany. Dr Hwang is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, Member of the European Rhinologic Society and Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society. Besides general ENT work for adults and children, his sub-specialty interest is in nasal allergy, immunotherapy, recalcitrant sinusitis, nasal polyps, revision sinus surgery, computer image guided surgery and endoscopic sinonasal tumor excision. Lau Pang Cheng David

Dr Lau has 30 years of experience in ENT in the UK, Canada and Singapore. Dr Lau has a substantial body of local and international experience, on-going academic and scientific work. Lim Keng Hua

Loh Ray Han Shaun

Low Wong Kein Christopher

Dr Low Wong Kein is a ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore. He subspecialises in the treatment of ear disorders and hearing loss in children and adults, particularly for those who may require a cochlear implant, which is the use of an electronic medical device for damaged inner ears. Dr Low completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Following that, he left for the UK under the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Award. There, he underwent a 14-month fellowship programme in ENT at Charing Cross Hospital in London. Then in 1995, he underwent further training at the Pacific Voice & Speech Foundation in California, USA under the TTSH Scholarship Award. During the six-month programme there, he focused on Laryngology and Phonosurgery. In 1997, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Prior to his move to private practice, Dr Seshadri was a consultant at the Department of Otolaryngology at TTSH. Presently, he continues to run a Voice Clinic at the Hospital, where he not only sees patients but trains junior doctors as well. Dr Seshadri is highly respected in the medical community for his expertise. He is the surgeon who pioneered the use of botulinum toxin (Botox) for patients with spasmodic voice conditions in Singapore. He has also been an active member of the Singapore ORL Society since 1991 and served as the Secretary of the Society from 1996 to 1997. In addition, he is a member of the Voice Foundation which is based in Philadelphia, USA. Dr Seshadri has scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals locally as well as regionally, including the Asian Pacific Journal of Allergy and Immunology. He has also been an invited speaker at scientific meetings. He is married with three children.

Sandeep Uppal

Dr Sandeep Uppal is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. Though he manages a range of ENT procedures, his interests are in facial plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic surgery and advanced sinus surgery. Dr Uppal was the former head of the department of otolaryngology at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He was also the head of facial plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic service there. He graduated from the University of Delhi and underwent training in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at Lady Irwin Hospital, India. He then pursued advanced specialisation in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery in the UK. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He did a 1-year fellowship under the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and trained in Germany, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, UK and the US. Dr Uppal also completed a 1-year fellowship in advanced rhinology by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and honed his skills in a variety of complex procedures. He has been practising medicine for more than 30 years. Besides his clinical work, he has an interest in research and received a training fellowship to conduct research on the genetic basis of ENT diseases. He has 38 scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed international journals covering subjects such as facelifts, rhinoplasty, septoplasty, blepharoplasty, sleep apnoea and functional endoscopic sinus surgery. Dr Uppal also has been invited to make more than 175 presentations at over 75 scientific events worldwide including international conferences and workshops, symposia and live surgical courses. He serves as the section editor for the rhinology and facial plastic surgery portion of the book Symptom-Oriented Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Additionally, he has written three specialised book chapters, focusing on brow lifts, facelifts and facial fractures. Besides his clinical work, he has served as an adjunct assistant professor and senior clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and has been part of the core faculty at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is the chairman of the facial plastic surgery section under the chapter of otolaryngology at the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He is also a national examiner and a member of the examination development committee for otorhinolaryngology exit examinations, overseen by the Ministry of Health. Dr Uppal is a member of several organisations including the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, and the Singapore Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. He is also vice-president of the Pan Asia Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and serves as the vice-chairman of Facial Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery India Trust. He is on the executive board of the International Board for Certification in facial plastic surgery, and is the chairman of the fellowship committee of the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies. In 2026, Dr Uppal was conferred the rank of Chevalier (Knight) of the National Order of Merit of the Republic of Guinea, one of the country's highest national honours, in recognition of his contributions to international healthcare collaboration and services to the Republic of Guinea.
