Terms & Conditions
This package covers one combined gastroscopy and colonoscopy session; repeat procedures require separate booking and pricing
Polypectomy for up to 2 polyps ≤ 5 mm is included; larger polyps, additional polyps, or EMR (endoscopic mucosal resection) are charged at standard procedural rates
Histopathology is included for up to 3 biopsy specimens; additional specimen analysis is charged at standard laboratory rates
The package price includes standard intravenous sedation; monitored anaesthesia care (MAC) by a specialist anaesthetist is available at an additional charge
If the bowel preparation quality is inadequate (Boston Score < 6), the colonoscopy may need to be repeated on a separate date and will be charged accordingly
Package Included
- Upper GI gastroscopy: full examination of the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum
- Total colonoscopy with complete visualisation to the caecum and terminal ileum
- Polyp removal (polypectomy) for up to 2 polyps ≤ 5 mm at no additional charge
- H. pylori CLO (Campylobacter-Like Organism) rapid urease test on gastric biopsy
- Histopathology analysis of all biopsies taken during the procedure
Benefits
- Combined upper and lower GI endoscopy in a single sedation episode minimises anaesthetic exposure and patient inconvenience
- High-definition endoscopes with narrow-band imaging (NBI) enhance detection of subtle mucosal lesions
- Same-day CLO test result enables prompt H. pylori eradication therapy to be prescribed at the post-procedure consultation
- Polypectomy of small polyps included, removing pre-cancerous lesions before they progress
- Propofol-based sedation provides rapid onset and short recovery time — most patients are alert within 30 minutes
What to Expect
- Arrive at the Endoscopy Suite fasting between 7:00 am and 7:30 am on the day of the procedure
- Registration and pre-procedure nursing assessment including vital signs, allergy review, and consent documentation
- Change into a procedure gown and have an intravenous cannula inserted by the nursing team
- Brief pre-procedure assessment with the gastroenterologist to review your history and answer any final questions
- Intravenous sedation administered; gastroscopy performed first — typically 10 to 15 minutes
Preparation
- Commence a low-fibre diet 2 days before the procedure: avoid nuts, seeds, corn, raw vegetables, and red meat
- Consume the prescribed bowel preparation solution the evening before the procedure as directed — typically 2 litres of polyethylene glycol solution
- Complete a second dose of bowel preparation 4 to 5 hours before the procedure time if a split-dose protocol is prescribed
- Fast from solid food for at least 8 hours before the procedure; clear fluids are permitted up to 2 hours before
- Arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you home — driving is not permitted for 24 hours after sedation
- Inform the endoscopy team of all current medications, particularly anticoagulants (warfarin, rivaroxaban, apixaban, aspirin) and iron supplements
- Stop iron supplements 5 days before the procedure as they interfere with bowel preparation and mucosal visualisation
- Anticoagulants should be stopped as directed by your prescribing physician — typically 3 to 5 days pre-procedure depending on the agent
- Diabetic patients on insulin or oral hypoglycaemics should contact the team for specific fasting medication instructions
- Contact the Endoscopy Suite at least 48 hours before the procedure if you need to reschedule
