Dr. Toon Dong Hao is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon practising at HC Orthopaedic Surgery and a Visiting Consultant at Thomson Medical Centre. He specializes in sports injuries and upper limb surgery, with expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures and complex reconstructive surgery of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. His practice focuses on helping patients recover function, relieve pain, and safely return to sports and everyday activities through individualized treatment plans. Dr. Toon performs a wide range of advanced orthopaedic procedures, including knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus and cartilage repair, knee osteotomy, shoulder stabilization, rotator cuff repair, shoulder and elbow replacement, and arthroscopic muscle advancement for irreparable rotator cuff tears. He also manages frozen shoulder, tendinopathies, sports-related ankle injuries, fractures, and orthopaedic trauma. His extensive training across Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and KK Women's and Children's Hospital has provided him with broad experience in both elective and trauma orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Toon graduated from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, before completing postgraduate training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, and Orthopaedic Residency under the National Healthcare Group (NHG), Singapore. He earned Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthopaedic Surgery and is an accredited Orthopaedic Specialist by Singapore's Ministry of Health. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Scholarship to undertake an Advanced Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Fellowship in Sydney, Australia. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Toon is actively involved in medical education and research as a Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and teaching awards recognizing his academic contributions.
