Dr. Chang Haw Chong

Dr. Chang Haw Chong is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine and complex knee reconstruction. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1994 and obtained multiple specialist qualifications, including Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1998, as well as a Master of Medicine in General Surgery. He later received his Orthopaedic Surgery specialty accreditation from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001. He further advanced his subspecialty training through the Ministry of Health’s Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) fellowship in the United States at the University of Louisville, where he trained in orthopedic sports medicine under Professor David N.M. Caborn, a leading expert in sports reconstruction surgery and allograft techniques. Dr. Chang previously served as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Changi General Hospital and held leadership roles including Deputy Director and later Director of Orthopedic Sports Medicine Services at the Changi Sports Medicine Centre. He founded the ACL Programme, treating over 250 ACL cases annually, including elite athletes. He is actively involved in education and research, serving as a Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore, receiving multiple teaching awards, and publishing extensively in leading orthopedic journals. He also serves on the editorial board of the Singapore Medical Journal.
