Dr. Tan Teck Choon

Dr. Tan Teck Choon is a rheumatologist, clinical immunologist, and allergist based at Farrer Park Hospital, Singapore, with over 20 years of clinical experience. His expertise spans rheumatology, allergy and immunology, with a strong focus on musculoskeletal ultrasound, laboratory immunology, and the diagnosis and management of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. He also manages allergic conditions such as urticaria, angioedema, drug allergies, and immunodeficiencies, as well as rheumatologic diseases including gout and inflammatory myopathies. Dr. Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and completed his internal medicine and rheumatology training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). He further enhanced his subspecialty expertise through a Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) fellowship in musculoskeletal ultrasound and laboratory immunology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Australia. He previously served as Head of the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), where he also held leadership roles including Assistant Chairman of the Medical Board (Manpower and Medical Affairs). He is currently the Board Chair of the Section of Clinical Immunologists and Allergists at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Dr. Tan has contributed significantly to clinical advancement, including developing novel autoantibody testing for inflammatory myopathies and establishing structured gout and immunology services. He is actively involved in academic teaching, specialty examinations, clinical governance, and medical research, with publications covering drug allergy, immunodeficiency, autoantibody testing, and COVID-19 management.
