Dr. Azlan Mohd Sofian

Dr. Azlan Mohd Sofian is a board-certified Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in joint replacement and reconstructive surgery. He graduated from the National University of Ireland, Dublin in 2007 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Obstetrics qualifications before completing his Master of Medicine in Orthopaedics at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2015. Dr. Azlan further advanced his expertise through a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Joint Replacement and Reconstructive Surgery in Australia in 2023. He specializes in fracture fixation, hip and knee replacement surgery, trauma management, and complex reconstructive procedures involving the lower limbs. His clinical interests include robotic-assisted joint replacement, minimally invasive and muscle-sparing joint replacement techniques, revision hip and knee arthroplasty, periprosthetic fractures, and infections associated with joint replacements. Dr. Azlan is known for utilizing the direct superior approach for hip replacement surgery, a modern muscle-sparing technique designed to minimize tissue damage and enhance postoperative recovery. Beyond clinical practice, he is actively involved in medical education, workshops, and professional training programs for orthopaedic healthcare professionals.
