Dr Lim Hui Fang is a specialist in respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. Her special interests are in severe asthma, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, endobronchial ultrasound and early lung cancer detection. Prior to joining private practice, she was a senior consultant at the National University Hospital's (NUH) respiratory and critical care medicine department. Dr Lim graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and underwent clinical specialty training at NUH. She was awarded an Academic Medical Development Award for a clinical research fellowship in severe asthma at McMaster University, Canada. Upon her return, she set up a multidisciplinary complex airway clinic with otolarygnology, infectious disease and allergy/immunology colleagues to provide a one-stop clinical service at NUH. She was also one of the earliest asthma specialists to start using asthma biologics in Singapore. She has been practising medicine for more than 20 years. She was involved in medical education and was the undergraduate director for the division of respiratory and critical care medicine at NUH. In 2015, she and her team were awarded the National Medical Excellence Award by the Ministry of Health (MOH) for their work in reducing mortality in community-acquired pneumonia. Dr Lim was appointed by MOH as the programme lead and deputy programme lead for the Singapore National Asthma Programme 2 and 3, to provide input on streamlining asthma-related health services. Her research interests include asthma epidemiology, asthma disease mechanisms, airway immune-profiling and pneumonia. She continues her research work as a visiting consultant at NUH and adjunct assistant professor at NUS. Dr Lim is also the deputy director of the NUS immunology translational research programme.

He has also undergone a fellowship at the world-renowned Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg, Germany under Prof Felix Herth, where he further honed his skills and knowledge in bronchoscopic procedures such as endobronchial ultrasound and bronchial thermoplasty for asthma. In 2012, he was the scientific chair for the World Congress on Tobacco and Health. He was the president of both the Singapore Thoracic Society and the Society of Intensive Care Medicine, Singapore, and is the current vice-chair of the Chapter of Intensivists at the Academy of Medicine. In 2010, he received the Excellent Service Award (STAR).
