Prof Dr. Azhar M. Merican is a Consultant Orthopaedic, Joint and Trauma Surgeon with expertise in orthopaedic trauma surgery, hip and knee replacement, arthroscopy, and ligament reconstruction. His clinical practice includes trauma and fracture surgery of the limbs, knee arthroscopy, hip and knee replacement and revision surgery, and knee ligament reconstruction. He is also experienced in microsurgical free tissue transfer and minimally invasive orthopaedic procedures. Prof Dr. Azhar obtained his MBBS from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, followed by a Master in Orthopaedic Surgery (MS Orth) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He further completed a Diploma in Clinical Orthopaedic Biomechanics and a PhD from Imperial College London, United Kingdom. He also underwent fellowship training in Hip and Knee Surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital in Australia. Prof Dr. Azhar is actively involved in academic research and has published numerous abstracts and manuscripts in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals. He has also contributed to the orthopaedic community through leadership roles and editorial responsibilities in professional journals.
