Dr. Tan Tee Yong

Dr. Tan Tee Yong is a pain medicine specialist and fully registered acupuncturist with training in both Western medical anesthesiology and traditional Chinese medicine. He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1995, where he completed his medical training in Anesthesiology. In 2006, he was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship by the Ministry of Health Singapore to further his expertise in Pain Medicine at Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia. He subsequently obtained the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine under the Australian and New Zealand College of Anesthetists. In addition to his Western medical training, Dr. Tan completed formal acupuncture training at the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is fully registered as an acupuncturist. This dual expertise allows him to integrate both Eastern and Western approaches in managing pain conditions, offering a comprehensive and holistic treatment strategy for patients. During his tenure at Alexandra Hospital, Dr. Tan pioneered multiple interventional pain treatment techniques and contributed actively to clinical advancement in pain management. He has also served in various academic and leadership roles, including Clinical Tutor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. His leadership experience includes serving as Co-Chair of the Safety Committee at Alexandra Hospital (2008–2009), Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Society of Anesthesiologists (2007–2008), and committee member of the Pain Society of Singapore. Since 2009, Dr. Tan has been in private practice focusing on pain medicine and acupuncture, with a strong emphasis on individualized, integrative care for chronic and complex pain conditions.
