Dr. Tan Poh Kok

Dr. Tan Poh Kok is a senior obstetrician and gynaecologist with extensive experience in women’s health, providing comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care for women across all age groups. He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1991 and obtained his postgraduate qualification from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (United Kingdom) in 1998. He subsequently achieved Specialist Accreditation from the Ministry of Health Singapore and the Singapore Medical Council in 2001. Prior to private practice, Dr. Tan served as Senior Consultant at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH). His clinical focus includes general obstetrics and gynaecology, with a subspecialty interest in uro-gynaecology and pelvic floor disorders. This includes the management of female urinary incontinence, post-natal (post-pregnancy) pelvic floor dysfunction, post-menopausal pelvic issues, and womb (uterine) prolapse. In 2005, he was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship in Uro-gynaecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction Surgery, during which he underwent advanced subspecialty training in Melbourne, Australia. Following his return, he served as Co-Director of the Pelvic Floor Disorder Service at SGH, where he contributed to the development of clinical protocols, treatment guidelines, and patient education materials for pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Tan is experienced in vaginal and laparoscopic surgeries, including vaginal hysterectomy, pelvic floor reconstruction, and keyhole surgery for common gynaecological conditions such as fibroids and ovarian cysts. He has also been actively involved in medical education as a Clinical Lecturer and examiner at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
