Dr. S.S. Sathappan

Dr. S.S. Sathappan is the Medical Director of Bone and Joint Specialist Clinic and a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery. His subspecialty interests include adult reconstructive surgery, joint replacement procedures, sports surgery, and the management of complex pelvic and acetabular trauma. He was the first surgeon to perform customized joint replacement procedures and is experienced in advanced orthopedic techniques including live-fibula graft surgery for avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip, hip resurfacing procedures, arthroscopic meniscal and ligament reconstruction surgery, as well as robotic-assisted hip and knee procedures such as MAKOplasty®. His dedication to improving high-flexion outcomes in patients has also led to involvement in international multicentre clinical research and implant design initiatives. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Sathappan has contributed extensively to medical education and professional development. He previously served as a Clinical Tutor at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Specialty Board Member for the Chapter of Orthopedic Surgeons Singapore, Clinical Research Coordinator, ATLS Course Instructor, and BCLS Course Instructor. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and orthopedic textbook chapters and is regularly invited as faculty and speaker at international orthopedic conferences. Dr. Sathappan has received multiple awards for surgical excellence, teaching, clinical research, and quality improvement throughout his career, reflecting his strong commitment to orthopedic innovation and patient care.
