Dr. Shim Hang Hock is a Gastroenterologist with subspecialty expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, as well as digestive cancer screening and advanced endoscopic procedures. He is dedicated to holistic and patient-centric care, earning several service excellence awards throughout his medical career. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Shim practiced clinical gastroenterology and hepatology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he served as Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre and continues to contribute as a Visiting Consultant. He was also appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. Dr. Shim obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom in 2007 and became an accredited Gastroenterology Specialist in 2015. In 2016, he received the Healthcare Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship from Singapore’s Ministry of Health to pursue Advanced Fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Calgary under Professors Remo Panaccione and Cynthia Seow. Apart from clinical practice, Dr. Shim is actively involved in research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in leading medical journals. He also participates in clinical trials, medical advisory boards, and regional medical conferences as a faculty member and speaker.
