Dr. Richard Chew is a highly experienced general surgeon with decades of clinical expertise in surgical oncology and minimally invasive procedures. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 1975, followed by a Master of Medicine (Surgery) in 1979. In the same year, he achieved Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. He has also been a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 1984. Early in his career, Dr. Chew gained international exposure as a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Surgery, Tokyo University Hospital and the Japan Cancer Centre in 1981. He subsequently practiced at the National University Hospital, Singapore before transitioning into private practice in 1987. Dr. Chew’s clinical expertise spans a broad range of surgical conditions, with particular focus on breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, and thyroid disorders. He is also skilled in gastrointestinal endoscopy and hernia surgery, as well as laparoscopic procedures, especially for gallbladder diseases. With his extensive experience and commitment to patient care, Dr. Chew continues to provide comprehensive surgical management for both benign and malignant conditions.
