Dr. Nicholas Chew Sern Yan is a Specialist in Infectious Diseases with clinical expertise spanning HIV medicine, bone and spine infections, diabetic foot infections, genitourinary medicine, and faecal microbiome transplantation (FMT). He joined Farrer Park Hospital in 2018 and currently runs his own practice, Nicholas Chew Infectious Diseases. Dr. Chew graduated with MB, BCh, BAO, BA from Trinity College Dublin and later obtained a PhD in Medicine from University College Dublin. He completed his postgraduate specialist training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases in Ireland, along with additional qualifications in Genitourinary Medicine and Sexually Transmitted Infections. Prior to private practice, he was Senior Consultant at the Department of Infectious Diseases, National University Hospital (NUH), where he led the Transplant Infectious Diseases Program and played a key role in the National University Centre for Organ Transplantation (NUCOT). His clinical focus includes complex hospital and community-acquired infections, antimicrobial management, and infectious complications in immunocompromised patients, including transplant recipients. He is also actively involved in HIV care and management of sexually transmitted infections. Dr. Chew’s expertise extends to emerging therapies such as faecal microbiome transplantation for recurrent infections. He has contributed to clinical leadership roles and multidisciplinary infectious disease programs in Singapore’s public healthcare system.
