Dr. Melissa Teo 张晶晶教授

Professor (Adjunct) Melissa Teo is a General Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist practicing across Mount Elizabeth Novena, Gleneagles, Farrer Park, and Mount Alvernia Hospitals. She has extensive expertise in complex cancer surgery, particularly in gastrointestinal, colorectal, peritoneal, and soft tissue malignancies. Prof Teo completed her General Surgical training in Singapore and pursued two advanced fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Colorectal Surgery in Toronto, where she further developed her expertise in complex abdominal and pelvic oncological surgery. Prior to private practice, she served as Senior Consultant and Head of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). During her tenure, she contributed to the development of clinical treatment guidelines for gastrointestinal cancers, sarcomas, and melanomas, shaping national standards of care. She has authored approximately 180 scientific publications and contributed to six book chapters, reflecting her strong academic and research background. She has also received multiple awards for service excellence and outstanding teaching contributions. Prof Teo continues to serve as a Visiting Professor at DUKE-NUS Medical School, where she remains actively involved in medical education and mentorship. In her clinical practice, she focuses on patient-centred care, surgical precision, and improving long-term outcomes for patients with complex cancers.
