Dr. Mark Fernandes

Dr. Mark Fernandes is a Gastroenterologist with a strong subspecialty focus in hepatology, particularly in liver disorders such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and liver cancer. He is also experienced in the use of Fibroscan for monitoring the progression of liver disease. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Fernandes served as a Consultant and Clinical Tutor at the National University Hospital, where he was involved in the Liver Transplant Program. He further enhanced his expertise in liver transplantation medicine at King’s College Hospital in London. Dr. Fernandes graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in 1997 and obtained his MBBS with Honours in 2000. He completed his residency training in both the United Kingdom and Singapore and became a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK in 2003. He was subsequently accredited as a specialist in Gastroenterology by the Ministry of Health Singapore and admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore. In 2007, he was awarded the Healthcare Manpower Development Program scholarship to pursue advanced fellowship training in liver cancer and Hepatitis B at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. Dr. Fernandes is also actively involved in research and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.
