Dr. Lai Jiunn Herng

Dr. Lai is a colorectal surgeon with expertise in advanced endoscopy, minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgery, and proctology. His clinical focus includes the treatment of colorectal cancer using advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted techniques, as well as single-port laparoscopy and trans-anal endoscopic operations. He further developed his skills during a one-year Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) fellowship in Hong Kong. In addition to colorectal cancer surgery, Dr. Lai is experienced in endoscopic mucosal resection, advanced pelvic surgery, and innovative techniques for managing complex anal fistula and hemorrhoidal disease. Dr. Lai graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998 and went on to obtain his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004 and a Master of Medicine in Surgery in 2005. He completed his advanced surgical training and was conferred the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009. He also holds a Diploma of Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg, France. Prior to private practice, Dr. Lai served as a Consultant at the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Singapore General Hospital and held leadership roles including Endoscopy Platform Director at the SingHealth-DukeNUS Surgical Skills Centre. He is actively involved in teaching, research, and professional societies, contributing to advancements in colorectal surgery and minimally invasive techniques.
