Dr. Kua Ee Heok 柯以煜医生

Professor Kua Ee Heok is a distinguished psychiatrist and academic leader, currently serving as the Tan Geok Yin Professor in Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the National University of Singapore. He is also an Emeritus Consultant at the National University Hospital and a Consultant Psychiatrist at Mind Care Clinic, Farrer Park Medical Centre. He received his medical training at the University of Malaya and pursued further specialization in psychiatry at Oxford and geriatric psychiatry at Harvard. Professor Kua has held several key leadership roles, including Head of Psychological Medicine at NUS and Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director at the Institute of Mental Health. Internationally recognized, he was a member of the World Health Organization team for the Global Study of Dementia and was the first Singaporean doctor invited by the United Nations to speak at a global forum on depression. He has made extensive contributions to research and academia, with over 300 published research papers and 27 books covering psychiatry, addiction, and ageing. His literary work has also been recognized in academic settings, with his novel used in teaching at Harvard University. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the multi-volume series “Mental Health and Illness Worldwide.” Professor Kua is widely respected for his dedication to advancing mental healthcare, particularly in the field of geriatric psychiatry.
