Dr. Kau Chung Yuan

Dr. Kau Chung Yuan is an orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in hip and knee conditions, particularly osteoarthritis and degenerative joint diseases. He is experienced in performing a wide range of procedures including unicompartmental, total, and revision hip and knee replacements. He is also a regional instructor for the Oxford Partial Knee Arthroplasty system. Prior to joining Synergy Orthopaedic Group in 2021, Dr. Kau practiced at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he gained extensive experience in trauma care, general orthopaedics, fracture management, and sports-related ligament reconstruction surgery. Dr. Kau is well-versed in advanced surgical technologies, including MAKOplasty robot-assisted surgery and computer navigation for joint replacement procedures. He is trained in the Direct Anterior Approach for hip replacement, which supports faster recovery and improved outcomes for patients. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2004 and obtained his postgraduate orthopaedic qualifications and fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2014. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship and completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction Surgery at Southampton University Hospital in the United Kingdom. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kau is actively involved in teaching and research, holding academic appointments at NTU and NUS, and contributing to the training of future orthopaedic surgeons through residency programs.
