Dr. Gerald Tan Yau Min

Dr. Gerald Tan is a renowned Urology Specialist with expertise in minimally invasive procedures and robotic-assisted surgery for prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers. He has been involved in over 550 robotic radical prostatectomies and is among the early pioneers in Singapore performing robotic partial nephrectomy for early kidney cancer and robotic radical cystectomy for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. He is also experienced in complex pelvic cancer surgery and reconstructive urology. Prior to private practice, Dr. Tan served as Head of Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Robotic Urology Task Force, where he acted as surgical proctor and developed inpatient care pathways for patients undergoing robotic prostatectomy. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1996 and completed his specialist training in Urology in 2007 at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. He further pursued a two-year fellowship in prostate cancer research and robotic urologic oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, USA, under Professor Ash Tewari. During this time, he contributed to pioneering research on advanced laser technologies for nerve-sparing prostate surgery, which received international recognition and multiple awards. Dr. Tan has received numerous international honors, including the Ferdinand C. Valentine Fellowship, AACR-GlaxoSmithKline Outstanding Clinical Scholar Award, John Steyn Travelling Fellowship, and James Syme Medal. He was also named Outstanding Young Urologist of Asia in 2012. He has published extensively in leading urology journals and serves as a peer reviewer for international publications.
