Dr. Elizabeth Au

Dr. Elizabeth Au is a Medical Oncologist with a special clinical interest in breast, gynaecological, gastrointestinal, and lung cancers. She has a long-standing career in oncology, spanning clinical practice, research, and leadership in cancer care development in Singapore. Dr. Au was awarded the Public Service Commission Scholarship in 1981 while pursuing her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She later received the Ministry of Health scholarship in 1990 for her Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine and completed the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (London). She subsequently pursued subspecialty training in Medical Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in the United States under the Ministry of Health HMDP scholarship, where she was promoted to Senior Clinical Fellow within four months, a rare distinction. Dr. Au has held key leadership positions, including being the first Head of Cancer Education and Information at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. She was a pioneer in the Department of Medical Oncology at Singapore General Hospital and contributed significantly to the early development of the National Cancer Centre Singapore. She has also served as principal investigator in multiple clinical and laboratory trials that contributed to the registration of new chemotherapy agents. Dr. Au is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Singapore Society of Oncology. She has authored and presented research in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, contributing to advancements in oncology practice and treatment strategies.
