Dr. David Tan Boon Harn is Medical Director and Senior Consultant Radiation Oncologist at Asian Alliance Radiation & Oncology (AARO), Singapore. He has over 15 years of clinical experience in radiation oncology, with subspecialty expertise in the treatment of gynecological cancers (cervix, uterus, ovaries), lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancers (oesophagus, stomach, colorectal), and hepatobiliary cancers (liver, pancreas, gallbladder). \n\nHis clinical focus includes advanced precision radiotherapy techniques such as stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), which deliver highly targeted ablative treatments in 1–5 sessions. He is also fellowship-trained in brachytherapy for gynecological cancers and is skilled in dual-modality treatment using both chemotherapy and radiotherapy. \n\nDr. Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005 and began radiation oncology training at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) in 2007. He received the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Award in 2011 for advanced oncology training in the United Kingdom at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, where he further specialized in site-specific oncology and stereotactic techniques. He obtained FRCR (UK) in Clinical Oncology in 2013 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2014. \n\nPrior to joining AARO, Dr. Tan served for 10 years at NCCS, where he played a key role in establishing liver and pancreas SBRT programs in Singapore. He was instrumental in developing treatment protocols, training multidisciplinary teams, and advancing stereotactic radiotherapy implementation nationally. He also contributed significantly to regional capacity building in SBRT through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Asia-Pacific training programs. \n\nDr. Tan is an active international leader in radiation oncology, serving as Council Member of the Federation of Asian Organizations for Radiation Oncology (FARO) and holding memberships in ASCO, ASTRO, ESTRO, and ISRS. He has published widely in peer-reviewed oncology journals and has contributed to international guideline development, editorial work, and regional training initiatives. \n\nHe is also actively involved in medical education as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS and former Clinical Lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic School of Radiation Therapy.
