Dr. Daniel Phang

Dr. Daniel Phang is a doubly accredited anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist, serving as Director of Affinity Pain Clinic and The Anaesthesia and Pain Practice. He also holds a leadership role as a Council Member of the Chapter of Pain in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. \n\nHe was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Scholarship and graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005. He completed his specialist training in Anaesthesiology in 2012 before pursuing subspecialty training in Pain Medicine. During his fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital, Canada, he trained under internationally renowned experts Professor Philip Peng and Dr. Anuj Bhatia, further refining his expertise in advanced pain interventions. He is also among the few specialists in Singapore to be awarded the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice and Certification in Pain Sonology by the World Institute of Pain. \n\nDr. Phang manages a broad spectrum of pain conditions, including musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries, neck and back pain, cancer-related pain, and complex chronic pain syndromes. His clinical practice emphasizes minimally invasive, surgery-sparing interventions, neuromodulation techniques, and ultrasound-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He is also known for his patient-centered approach, emphasizing time, communication, and individualized treatment planning. \n\nIn addition to clinical work, Dr. Phang is actively involved in medical education. He previously organized weekly teaching sessions at Singapore General Hospital’s Pain Department and has taught in regional and international workshops, including programs by the New York School of Regional Anaesthesia and the Singapore Pain Association. \n\nHe has also participated in socio-medical missions, providing anesthetic and pain care in regional settings, and served as an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor. He previously held a council role in the Pain Association of Singapore, contributing to the development of pain medicine practice and education in the region.
