Dr. Choo Chee Yong Julian

Dr. Julian Choo Chee Yong is an anesthesiologist specializing in Pain Medicine and regional anaesthesia. He graduated with an MBBS from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and completed his specialist training in Anaesthesiology, during which he was awarded the Best Trainee Award in Singapore. He obtained his Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology from NUS and later became a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) after completing examinations in Melbourne. \n\nHe further subspecialized in Pain Medicine, becoming a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (ANZCA). His fellowship training was completed at the Western Australia Pain Management Centre, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, where he gained extensive experience in interventional pain procedures and multidisciplinary management of acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain conditions. \n\nDr. Choo’s clinical expertise includes a wide range of ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided interventional pain procedures such as spinal steroid injections, radiofrequency neurotomies, neurolytic blocks, intrathecal pump implantation, and spinal cord stimulation. These minimally invasive techniques provide alternative treatment options for patients who may not be suitable for or wish to avoid open surgery. \n\nBeyond clinical practice, Dr. Choo is actively involved in academic and educational work. He serves as a Council Member of the Pain Association of Singapore and contributes to postgraduate medical education through SingHealth and the Eastern Healthcare Alliance. He is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He has received the Passionate Educator Award from SingHealth in recognition of his teaching excellence and has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.
