Dr. Chong Chern Hao

Dr. Chong Chern Hao is a specialist in Gastroenterology with subspecialty interests in fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis B and C, liver cancer, and other liver-related disorders. He has practiced clinical hepatology and general gastroenterology across National University Hospital (NUH), Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), and Woodlands Health Campus (WHC) before joining gutCARE. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 2009 as a Dean’s List top student. He began his medical career in Singapore as a house officer before entering the National University Health System (NUHS) Residency Programme, where he trained in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He obtained his Master of Medicine (MMed) and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK) in 2013. He was accredited as a Gastroenterology specialist by the Ministry of Health Singapore in 2016 and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore. Dr. Chong was among the early specialists involved in the establishment of Woodlands Health Campus, contributing to hospital operations planning and leading the pilot medical ward in 2017. He received the Service Excellence Award in 2019 for his contributions. He is actively involved in public education on liver disease and digestive health.
