Dr. Chew Min Hoe

Dr. Chew Min Hoe is a Senior Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with extensive experience in benign and malignant colorectal diseases. His clinical expertise includes colorectal cancer, advanced pelvic tumours, hereditary colorectal syndromes, and perianal disease. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive surgical techniques and has particular expertise in managing complex and locally advanced pelvic malignancies. He previously served over 20 years in the public healthcare sector. He was the founding Head of the Department of Surgery at Sengkang General Hospital (2016–2020) and later served as Chairman of the Division of Surgery. He also held multiple leadership roles within SingHealth, including Director of Operating Theatre Management and Director of the Endoscopy Centre. Dr. Chew has held prominent leadership positions in professional societies, including serving as President of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons, Singapore (2022–2023). He has received numerous national awards recognising his clinical excellence, leadership, and contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Public Administration Medal (Bronze), Public Service Medal, and SingHealth Excellence Awards. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2001, obtained his Master of Medicine (Surgery) in 2006, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2010. He completed advanced fellowship training in complex pelvic surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney under the SingHealth HMDP programme. In addition to clinical practice, he is actively involved in medical education and research, with adjunct appointments at NUS, Duke-NUS, and NTU. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and is a frequent international speaker in colorectal surgery.
