Dr. Chen WeiHao

Dr. Chen Weihao is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), intestinal failure, and advanced gastrointestinal diagnostics. He obtained his MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 2008 and completed specialist training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, becoming a registered specialist in gastroenterology and hepatology in 2016. In 2018, he was awarded the Ministry of Health Healthcare Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship to pursue subspecialty training in inflammatory bowel disease and clinical nutrition at Austin Hospital in Australia. He also underwent training in Germany, becoming part of the first group of gastroenterologists in Singapore proficient in intestinal ultrasound. Dr. Chen played a key role in establishing inflammatory bowel disease services and point-of-care intestinal ultrasound at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He is also actively involved in managing complex nutritional cases, including patients requiring parenteral nutrition, short bowel syndrome, and intestinal failure, working closely with multidisciplinary nutrition support teams. In addition to his clinical work, he performs advanced endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy with chromoendoscopy, and capsule endoscopy. He is also actively involved in medical education, teaching medical students from NUS and NTU, as well as supervising nursing postgraduate trainees.
