Dr. Charles Tsang

Dr. Charles Tsang is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with extensive expertise in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, proctology, and advanced bowel disorders. He graduated from the National University of Singapore and obtained fellowship qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He completed a clinical fellowship in surgery at Leeds General Infirmary and advanced colorectal training at the University of Minnesota, where he was awarded the Carl E. Christensen Outstanding Resident Scholar Award as the first non-American recipient. He later obtained a Master of Science in Experimental Surgery and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an International Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He previously served as Head and Senior Consultant of the Division of Colorectal Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute of Singapore. He continues to serve as a Visiting Consultant at Singapore General Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Dr. Tsang is widely recognized for his expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions, as well as advanced therapeutic endoscopy and functional bowel disorders. He is also an internationally recognized authority in endorectal and endoanal ultrasound imaging, particularly in complex anal fistula and colorectal cancer management. In addition to clinical work, he is active in research with funding support from agencies such as A*STAR, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He serves on editorial boards and is a frequent invited speaker at international surgical conferences.
