Dr Stanley Chia is an interventional cardiologist and physician at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore. He is experienced in managing complex coronary artery disease and a variety of other cardiovascular diseases and conditions. He also handles difficult coronary interventional procedures such as left main disease, chronic total occlusions, and calcified lesions. He was awarded the British Heart Foundation Scholarship Scheme and Junior Research Fellowship to undertake cardiovascular medicine research in a doctoral programme at the University of Edinburgh from 2000 – 2002. He completed his cardiology advanced specialty training at the National Heart Centre Singapore, and has been certified as a specialist in cardiology since 2006. Dr Chia was a research fellow at Harvard Medical School and an interventional cardiology fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA. Prior to leaving for private practice, he was a senior consultant cardiologist and interventional cardiologist at the National Heart Centre Singapore. He was concurrently a clinical senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore’s faculty of medicine, and the director of the cardiology residency programme. Dr Chia made significant contributions to cardiology education and training. Currently, he is the deputy chairman of the SingHealth Institution Research Ethics Committee, and previously also served as a member of the National Medical Research Council Scientific Review Panel. He presented and published his research on advanced intravascular imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography to provide insight into the development of coronary artery disease. He further developed his clinical expertise in interventional cardiology and specialised in structural heart and coronary interventional procedures. He has published extensively on cardiovascular research in international peer-reviewed journals. He continues to play a major role in organising and speaking at numerous international and local cardiology conferences.

Chiam Toon Lim Paul

Dr Paul Chiam is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore. He is one of the few surgeons in Singapore with experience in performing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Dr Chiam subspecialises in interventional cardiology, and previously spent 18 months at the Lenox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute of New York gaining hands-on experience in complex coronary angioplasty, carotid artery stenting, peripheral artery angioplasty, and structural heart disease (heart valve) interventions. He later spent 3 months training in intracranial angioplasty and stenting in the department of endovascular neurosurgery at the University of Buffalo. He graduated on the Dean’s list from the National University of Singapore, and completed his postgraduate Master of Medicine examination, where he won the G.A. Ransome Gold Medal. He is an adjunct associate professor at the National University of Singapore. He was the secretary general of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC) from 2016 – 2019. He was also a member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Peripheral Vascular Disease Section Leadership Council from 2014 – 2017. Dr Chiam is well-recognised in the field of interventional cardiology, and has been invited as a guest faculty or speaker to major international cardiovascular conferences such as the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions, and American Heart Association Scientific Sessions. He has also been invited as a case operator to conduct workshops and to perform cases during 'live transmissions' in complex coronary interventions, peripheral artery interventions and mitral valvuloplasties in Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Taiwan and China. He has published extensively in cardiovascular journals, and won the SingHealth Publish! Award in 2012 for a paper published in a major cardiovascular journal.

Hong Cho Tek Eric

Dr Eric Hong is a cardiologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in interventional cardiology, sports cardiology, nuclear cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation and non-invasive cardiac imaging including cardiac CT angiography and PET/SPECT imaging. He is one of the few cardiologists who is formally trained in double clinical fellowships of nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr Eric Hong Cho Tek received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1996 and passed the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) the following year. He worked in Ireland before returning to Singapore to start his specialist training in internal medicine. After completing his basic specialist training in internal medicine at Singapore General Hospital, he obtained his MRCP and became Member of Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh). Dr Eric Hong commenced his advanced Specialist training in cardiology at National University Hospital in 2003. He passed the certification examinations of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in 2005. In recognition of his professional and research achievements, Dr Eric Hong Cho Tek was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Cardiology) in 2006. He also received the Health Manpower Development Plan award in cardiology from Ministry of Health, Singapore. He obtained his subspecialty training in Advanced Multimodality Cardiac Imaging at the Brigham & Women's Hospital/ Harvard Medical School ( USA ) where he trained with Professor Marcelo Di Carli, an eminent nuclear cardiologist who is the world's authority on CT/ PET imaging. Dr Eric Hong became a diplomate of the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology CNBC in 2006. He was also a clinical fellow in interventional cardiology at the Brigham & Women's Hospital/ Harvard Medical School (USA) under the preceptorship of Dr Jeffrey J Popma. Dr Popma is a world renonwed interventional cardiologist who was previously president of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and is the current chairman of the American College of Cardiology Cardiac Catheterization Committee and Ad Hoc Committee on Simulation Training. Dr Eric Hong Cho Tek became board eligible in interventional cardiology ( ACGME, USA ) in July 2007. He returned to Singapore to work in Department of Cardiology, National University Hospital where he was Director, Nuclear Cardiology and Imaging. Director, Exercise and Cardiac Rehabilitation at National University Hospital. Dr Eric Hong was also Clinical Tutor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Chairman, NTLC, National University Hospital, Singapore . He was a consultant cardiologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital from Nov 2009 to Oct 2010 where he helped to set up and deliver 24-hours acute interventional cardiology service for heart attack patients. He has been elected as Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (USA) and Fellow of Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology.

Khoo Zhi Lin Deanna

Dr Deanna Khoo is a cardiologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. Her subspecialty is interventional cardiology. She was previously a consultant cardiologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). She remains a visiting consultant there. Dr Khoo graduated from the Imperial College School of Medicine, UK. She worked for a year in the North West London Health Trust before returning to Singapore. She completed her internal medicine training and was admitted as a member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. She then went on to complete her advanced specialist training in cardiology at TTSH, where she subsequently completed her fellowship training in interventional cardiology. While at the hospital, Dr Khoo cared for a large number of outpatient and inpatient general cardiology patients, and performed many coronary angiographies and percutaneous coronary interventions predominantly via the radial approach. Additionally, she has performed complex percutaneous coronary interventions involving left main stenting, bifurcation stenting and treating calcified coronary arteries with atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy. Since 2015, she has performed more than 1,000 angioplasties. She is a strong believer in intracoronary physiology assessments as well as utilising intracoronary imaging with intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography to perform her interventions. She is experienced in performing interventions with both the latest drug-eluting stents and drug-eluting balloons. She is part of the STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) service that delivers round-the-clock interventions for acute myocardial infarction patients. She was also part of the pioneering team in Singapore that first performed Impella-assisted intervention, robotic-assisted angioplasty and use of the lighting flash system for the management of pulmonary embolism. Dr Khoo also has an interest in echocardiography having obtained the ASCeXAM Testamur certification in adult echocardiography and is accredited in performing stress echocardiography. She was a clinical tutor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Dr Khoo has been involved in research and was the principal investigator in multiple international and local trials related to thrombus management, acute coronary syndromes and percutaneous coronary intervention. She has also been invited as faculty and panelist for several cardiology conferences and scientific meetings. Dr Khoo is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and the European Society of Cardiology. She has served on the executive committee for the Singapore Cardiac Society.
