Dr Tan Aik Hau is a specialist in respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His special interests are endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), pleural diseases, extracorporeal life support (ECLS) and critical care ultrasound. Prior to starting private practice, he was a consultant at the department of respiratory and critical care medicine at Singapore General Hospital. In the field of respiratory medicine, Dr Tan has a special interest in advanced bronchoscopic techniques such as EBUS, pleural diseases and medical pleuroscopy. He was the course director of advanced bronchoscopy courses in 2013, 2015 and 2017, which attracted participants from Asia and Australasia. He was also invited to speak at the 7th Asia Pacific Congress of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology in 2017. In the field of intensive care medicine, Dr Tan has a special interest in ECLS and critical care ultrasound. In 2013, he was awarded a Health Manpower Development Award to pursue a clinical fellowship at the renowned Alfred Intensive Care Unit in Melbourne. He received accreditation in the management of ECLS patients, as well as the Certificate in Clinician-Performed Ultrasound from the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine. He has been the supervisor to the respiratory therapy department at the Singapore General Hospital from 2015 to 2018, and has a keen interest in advancing the technology of non-invasive ventilation. Teaching has always been a passion for Dr Tan. He held multiple teaching-related appointments including associate program director at Singapore Health Internal Medicine Residency, adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, clinical senior lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and clinical teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. In addition, he gives regular lectures at Nanyang Polytechnic to advanced trainee nurses.

She trained at the interstitial lung diseases unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. In 2015, Dr Teo initiated and led the ILD service at NUH. She collaborated with rheumatology colleagues to provide one-stop rheumatology-ILD service to patients with connective-tissue disease ILD. She was also the first-line designated referral consultant for respiratory immuno-oncology service in NUH to meet the needs of haemato-oncology patients with immune-checkpoint inhibitor toxicities. In 2022, she was involved in the setup of the national interstitial lung disease service registry on the NUH site, in collaboration with Singapore General Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Besides her clinical work, she was an assistant professor in the department of medicine at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. She is also a core faculty member for the National PGY1 programme at the National University Health System. She has served as an advisory board member and consultant for Boehringer Ingelheim and AstraZeneca in use of antifibrotic and oncology drugs. Dr Teo is a recipient of several awards including the Long Service Award, Service Quality Partner’s Award, and the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Courage Award.
