He started the streamline management of young stroke patients from the point of screening by transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography to the arrangement of closure of Patent foramen ovale (a hole between the left and right atria of the heart) at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore. He was also involved in the cardio-oncology echocardiographic service there. He actively teaches and was the core clinical faculty member of the cardiology senior residency programme at the National Healthcare Group, as well as a member of the cardiology resident advisory committee under the Ministry of Health. Dr Wong was also active in research which he published numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals and authored a book chapter. He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. In recognition of his numerous publications and contributions towards the advancement in echocardiography, he was awarded the fellowship of the American Society of Echocardiography.
