Dr. Jason See Jia Hao is a Consultant Cardiologist and Physician with more than 20 years of clinical experience in cardiology. He specializes in cardiovascular imaging and preventive cardiology. He was fellowship trained at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, United Kingdom, and holds United States board certifications in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiac CT. Paul OngMRCP (UK)

Dr Paul Ong is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He subspecialises in interventional cardiology. He was one of the earliest to adopt trans-radial approach in coronary angioplasty when the technique was still in its infancy. He also played a pivotal role in introducing and adopting modern cardiology technologies in the Asia-Pacific. This included renal denervation for hypertension, intravascular lithotripsy for treating calcified blood vessels, and the Impella heart pump to protect the very sick patients during high-risk angioplasty. He is also the earliest cardiologist to perform robotic-assisted angioplasty in Southeast Asia. Dr Ong graduated with honours from the University of Cambridge Medical School, and pursued his cardiology specialist training in heart centres at Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, and Harefield Hospitals. He was appointed NHS cardiology consultant and Cathlab director at the Lister Hospital and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust in 2006. He was subsequently elected as Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2008. After spending 23 years studying and working in England, he relocated to Singapore in 2009, and headed the interventional cardiology service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Over the next 10 years, Dr Ong and his team brought about many practice changes in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. His clinical experience in the UK and Asia as a senior doctor gave him a global prospective of managing heart disease while remaining sensitive to the nuances of local practice. In the last decade, he has made over a hundred trips to lecture and proctor angioplasty practice in Asia, and has trained many cardiology fellows in the UK and throughout Southeast Asia. He was instrumental in securing funding to train and develop the heart attack angioplasty programme in Myanmar. Dr Ong is the founding chairman of both the Asia Primary Angioplasty Congress (APAC) and the Asia Physiology and Coronary Imaging Course (APACi) to promote a high standard of cardiac care in Asia. He is one of the few interventional cardiologists from Singapore to initiate his own international multi-centre clinical trials. He was also the principal investigator of over 20 large-scale randomised clinical trials. He has supervised the research work of fellow cardiologists over the years and got their results presented in international scientific conferences. He has over 60 high-impact scientific publications in renowned medical journals. In recognition of his reputation in the field of interventional cardiology, he has been invited to sit in organising committee of scientific meetings and the advisory boards. In his spare time, Dr Ong enjoys travelling, photography and jogging. He is happily married to a paediatric specialist and has two young adult sons.

(Adj) Prof Kofidis was formerly the head of the department of cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery, and senior consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS). He has trained in several institutions such as the Strong Memorial Hospital, USA; Texas Heart Institute, USA; Hannover Medical School, Germany; and Stanford University Medical School, USA. He has more than 17 years of experience in Europe and Singapore as a cardiothoracic surgeon. (Adj) Prof Kofidis has established a comprehensive and advanced minimally invasive and endoscopic heart surgery programme in the region and set up an advanced haemodynamic research laboratory and cardiovascular surgical research group in Singapore. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, an elected member of the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, and an ambassador/steering committee of the World Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery. (Adj) Prof Kofidis is the chairman of the Initiative for Research and Innovation in Surgery and has introduced numerous new technologies in his field of practice regionally. He has launched new types of less invasive surgery that include the first same-stop-hybrid bypass procedure, sutureless heart valves, automated knot-tying devices, and the first 3D-guided minimally invasive surgery. He also invented NUHCS’ own minimally invasive procedure called SIMICS (single incision minimally invasive cardiac surgery). He has made contributions to heart-related research; and his innovations, discoveries and medical patents in heart surgery have earned him many awards including the NHIC/SMART/SPRING I-2-Start Grant and the NRF/CGF grant. (Adj) Prof Kofidis was also awarded the NUS-TAP Fund for a novel, suspended retractor and endoscopic camera system for minimally invasive surgery. As an academic teacher, proctor and consultant in the field-related industry, (Adj) Prof Kofidis is often invited to train doctors and nurses in minimally invasive heart surgeries, and conduct cardiac surgical workshops around the world. He is a professor with the department of surgery at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He also founded the Initiative to Promote Research and Innovative Technology in Surgery, which has helped more than 150 students and postgraduates kick-start their academic career in this field. He is also an editor and reviewer for various scientific bodies, and he has published in more than 150 articles in international journals including Nature, Circulation, New England Journal of Medicine, Biomaterials and the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. He has received various international awards and was an invited lecturer at the Bill Gates Research Centre, the American Medical Association, the National Institutes of Health, and Food and Drug Administration in the USA.
