Dr. Wong Wai Loong

Dr Wong Wai Loong is an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. His subspecialty is in gynae-oncology, and he is skilled in both laparoscopic and open surgeries for cancer and benign cases. He treats gynaecological cancers such as endometrial, ovarian and cervical cancers. He also treats benign conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts and endometrial polyps. Before joining private practice, he was the head and senior consultant in the department of gynaecologic oncology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). Dr Wong graduated from the National University of Ireland. He subsequently trained in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology and attained his specialist post-graduate degree conferred by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK and a master’s in Singapore. He received a Health Manpower Development Plan award for training in robotic gynae-oncologic surgery in the UK. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years. He was a clinical champion for the value-driven care workgroup for hysterectomy. He also established the enhanced recovery for gynae-onco patients and was involved in the introduction of the sentinel node biopsy for endometrial cancer. He is currently the chairman of the section of gynaecological oncology at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the vice-president of the Society for Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology of Singapore. Dr Wong was an adjunct assistant professor at all the three medical schools in Singapore. He was also a member of the core faculty for the obstetrics and gynaecology residency programme at KKH. He is an advocate for women’s health especially in the field of screening and cancer awareness. He has given numerous public talks on women’s cancer and prevention. He is a recipient of several Singapore Health Service Quality awards and Service from the Heart awards.
