Dr Ravindra Singh Shekhawat is a neurologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. He has a special interest in stroke, epilepsy, headache, neurophysiology and neuroimmunology. Dr Ravi has completed his medical training from Madras Medical College, Chennai, India, and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. He later became a member of the Royal College of Physicians, London (MRCP, UK), before moving on to pursue his Senior Residency Training in Neurology at Singapore General Hospital. This was followed by fellowship at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) and the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, Edinburgh). He was working as a neurology consultant under the National Neuroscience Institute and has been providing neurology services at Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital. He worked as a stroke lead in Changi General Hospital under National Neuroscience Institute. Apart from clinical work, Dr Ravi has also been actively involved in educating and mentoring medical students and trainee doctors on the internal medicine and neurology residency programme. He was also a clinical tutor at NUS’ Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and DUKE-NUS medical school. He has also published several stroke-related and general neurology articles in many well-established journals. He worked as principal investigator in various grant supported research studies. He has also participated in many media interviews and public awareness programmes to share his experience and knowledge with the public on his expertise in stroke management. Dr Ravi has achieved many awards and recognition for his work in the healthcare system in Singapore, such as the Outstanding Resident award (NNI-SGH), Service Quality Award SGH, Service with a Heart Award and Quality service award at NNI.
