Prof. Dr. Varocha Mahachai

Prof. Dr. Varocha Mahachai is a distinguished specialist in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Center. She is one of Thailand’s most recognized experts in digestive diseases, with extensive international academic and clinical experience in North America. She completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, followed by postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Alberta, Canada. She further pursued advanced training including a Master of Science in Medicine and a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of California, San Francisco. She holds multiple board certifications including the American Board of Internal Medicine and subspecialty certification in Gastroenterology from the University of Alberta, along with fellowships from leading international medical institutions. Prof. Dr. Varocha has served as Professor of Medicine and Chief of Gastroenterology at Chulalongkorn University and previously held the position of President of the Gastroenterological Association of Thailand. She is currently the Director of the National Gastric Cancer and Helicobacter Pylori Research Center in Thailand. Her clinical expertise covers a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases including GERD, peptic ulcer disease, liver disease, colorectal cancer, IBS, IBD, and pancreatic disorders, with special interest in H. pylori infection and gastric cancer mechanisms.
