He obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and later completed his Master of Surgery in Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery in Malaysia. He further advanced his professional qualifications through Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons from Edinburgh and Glasgow, United Kingdom. Dr. Luis Chen is also an International Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology (FAAO), United States, since 2001. In addition to his clinical qualifications, he earned a Master of Business Administration (Healthcare & Hospital) from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany, in 2009. His special clinical interests include functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), balloon sinuplasty, sleep apnea and snoring management, middle ear surgery, and treatment of head and neck tumours.
