Dr Lai Yan Chen

Dr Lai Yan Chen is a Consultant Anaesthesiologist & Critical Care Specialist at Beacon Hospital with expertise in anaesthesia, perioperative medicine, and critical care management. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery qualification from Australia and later completed a Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology. Dr Lai is involved in perioperative patient management, anaesthesia care, critical care services, and support for complex medical and surgical procedures. His clinical interests include patient monitoring, pain management support, and regional anaesthesia techniques. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Lai is actively involved in medical education and professional development activities. He serves as a Member of the Master Programme in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and is also an Instructor for Simulation-Based Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia at Hospital Pengajar Universiti Putra Malaysia (HPUPM). He has contributed to public health and medical awareness initiatives, including serving as Chairman for World Anaesthesia Day and World Sepsis Day programmes at HPUPM.
