Dr Lee Cheng Kiang is a neurosurgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. Dr Lee graduated from the National University of Singapore's Medicine Faculty in the year 2000. He obtained his membership to the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and Masters of Medicine in general surgery in 2005. He applied for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Neurosurgery training programme in 2004 and obtained his Fellowship in Neurosurgery in 2009. During his training, he was seconded to the Metropolitan Health Service of Western Australia where he covered neurosurgical service in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital focusing primarily on neuro-oncology, spinal degenerative diseases, nerve compression syndromes, vascular and skull base neurosurgical conditions. In addition, he was responsible for head injury coverage at the Royal Perth Hospital and paediatric neurosurgical conditions at the Princess Margaret Hospital. During his tenure in public service, Dr Lee Cheng Kiang lectured medical students from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine regularly, he was also regularly invited to give lectures on perioperative considerations for neurosurgery and neuro-oncology to the advanced diploma in nursing students at Nanyang Polytechnic. He also contributed to surgery education as a faculty member for the Singhealth surgery residency programme. Dr Lee Cheng Kiang was actively involved in the management and surgery of neurosurgical patients during his tenure with the National Neuroscience Institute and Changi General Hospital. In addition, he was also responsible for ensuring that high clinical standards and quality of care were dispensed at the workplace as the chairman of morbidity and mortality audit committee for neurosurgery at Changi General Hospital, and was chief quality (clinical) officer in the neurosurgery department Singapore General Hospital and member of the trauma committee of the Singapore General Hospital. He was a member of the medical board in Changi General Hospital.

Ng Hua Bak Ivan

Dr Ivan Ng is a neurosurgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. With more than 20 years’ experience in the field, he provides specialised care in skull base neurosurgery, brain tumour treatments and neurovascular surgery. In addition to brain and spinal tumours, he treats conditions such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, back and neck pain, degenerative spine, hydrocephalus, moyamoya disease (a rare condition where the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain become narrowed), occlusive disease and trigeminal neuralgia. Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Ng was a senior consultant at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI). During his tenure, he served as the deputy director of the institution as well as the head of department of both the NNI campuses at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. He was also instrumental in setting up several research laboratories while he was there as well as the acute brain injury programme. He continues to be a visiting consultant at NNI. Upon graduation from the faculty of medicine at the National University of Singapore, Dr Ng underwent basic training and completed specialty training in surgery. Then, through the Health Manpower Development Plan award, he attended a 2-year fellowship programme at Addenbrooke's Hospital, UK. There, he served as the chief resident of the neurosurgical unit. In 2000, he was admitted as an inter-collegiate fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (surgical neurology) and at the same time, was awarded the Norman Dott Medal for most outstanding performance. He introduced high-flow EC-IC bypass operations for complex neurosurgical scenarios and performed the earliest awake craniotomy for brain tumour in Parkway in 2012. He performs 150 to 180 major neurosurgical operations a year. He is the course director for the Aesculap Academy in minimally invasive neurosurgery and the AO Foundation course director for neurotrauma in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also the past vice-president of the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and executive committee member at the Society of Intensive Care Medicine (Singapore) and the Asia Pacific Brain Injury Consortium. Dr Ng is an associate professor and director of the brain and behaviour programme at Duke-NUS Medical School. He is also an external lecturer at the School of Health Sciences at Nanyang Polytechnic, as well as an external examiner for the conjoined Edinburgh-Hong Kong Neurosurgery exit examinations. In the field of research, he used to head the acute brain injury research team at NNI and has been the principal investigator of more than 20 research projects. He is also published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. A frequently mentioned name at conferences, Dr Ng has been an invited speaker at more than 100 Asia-Pacific and international neurosurgical meetings. With an interest to serve the public, Dr Ng has been a volunteer doctor at St Andrew’s Hospital and TOUCH Community Services. He was also part of the Singapore volunteer overseas team to the Philippines during the Mount Pinatubo eruption.

Ng Yew Poh (Vincent)

Dr Vincent Ng is a neurosurgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His clinical interests are cerebrovascular surgery, neurovascular bypasses and revascularisation, neurotrauma, skull base surgery and general neurosurgery. He treats various conditions including acoustic neuroma, brain aneurysm, brain metastasis, cerebral arteriovenous malformation, cerebral dural arteriovenous fistulas, intracerebral haemorrhage, meningiomas, Moyamoya disease, neurotrauma, and sweaty palms (palmar hyperhidrosis). He was the former head of department and senior consultant at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) @ Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also the past regional head of neurosurgery (north) for the National Healthcare Group, and the former head of service for neurosurgery at Woodlands Health. Dr Ng graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS). He then obtained his membership in general surgery conferred by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He completed his master’s at NUS. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and went for a 1-year fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at John Radcliffe Hospital, UK. He was conferred a master’s degree in endovascular neurosurgery by Oxford University, UK. To further his clinical research interest, he was awarded a National Medical Research Council scholarship to undertake a master’s in clinical investigation at NUS. At Woodlands Health, he started the neurosurgery service. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years. Besides his clinical work, Dr Ng was an adjunct assistant professor at the DUKE-NUS Medical School. He is also a clinical senior lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and he sits on the Yew Tee Primary School advisory committee. He was previously the chairman of the Chapter of Neurosurgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore and the president of Clinical Neuroscience Society. He is currently the assistant secretary of Asian Australasian Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is also member of a few organisations such as the Congress of American Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and AO Spine. He was awarded the GCEO Excellence Award for Outstanding Clinician Award, several Singapore Health Quality Service awards, and the National Award (COVID-19) Public Administration Medal.
