Chan Wan Xian

Dr Chan Wan Xian is a cardiologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore. Her clinical expertise includes heart failure and management of patients with mechanical hearts, valvular heart diseases, and cardiac imaging including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology techniques. She pursued subspecialisation training in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation at the Toronto University Health Network in Canada. She completed her advanced specialist training in cardiology at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) in 2009. She also received training in cardiomyopathies and cardiac imaging (including nuclear cardiology imaging and echocardiography). Subsequently, Dr Chan was awarded team scholarship and pursued further training in women’s heart health services at the Mayo Clinic in USA and the Ottawa Heart Institute in Canada. She was a former senior consultant and co-director of the women’s heart health service at NUHCS. She is currently an adjunct assistant professor of the department of medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in NUS. During her time at NUHCS, Dr Chan led the transitional and home care services for complex heart failure patients. She was awarded the Outstanding Collaborating Physician Award in 2016 at the National University Hospital in Singapore. The initiative also won Merit award in the Quality Improvement project (CareHub pilot project in cardiac patients) in 2016.

Lee Shao Guang Sheldon

Dr Sheldon Lee is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His subspecialties are heart failure, non-invasive cardiac imaging and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. He treats heart attack (myocardial infarction) and heart failure. Prior to starting private practice, Dr Lee was senior consultant at Changi General Hospital (CGH). He was the former director of the heart failure programme at the hospital. He graduated from the National University of Singapore. He then obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. He went for a fellowship in advanced heart failure management at St Vincent’s Hospital, Australia and completed another fellowship in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at the Royal Brompton Hospital, UK. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years. Besides his clinical work, Dr Lee is a senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, clinical assistant professor in the SingHealth Duke-NUS cardiovascular sciences academic clinical programme, and core faculty in SingHealth’s cardiology senior residency programme. He is also a cardiology representative in the pharmacy and therapeutics committee, and member of the heart failure service improvements subcommittee.

Lim Choon Pin

Dr Lim Choon Pin is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore. He is experienced in managing and treating advanced heart failure patients on ventricular assist devices, as well as patients with conditions like coronary artery disease, heart valve diseases and heart rhythm disease. His subspecialty and research interests include advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support devices and advanced echocardiography (including transoesophageal echocardiography). He completed his clinical fellowship in advanced heart failure at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, Australia in 2013 under the Ministry of Health’s Human Manpower Development Programme scholarship. He also received his accreditation in adult transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging in 2013. Prior to joining private practice, Dr Lim worked as a full-time consultant cardiologist from 2012 – 2018. He is also currently a visiting consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore. Dr Lim was an adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS. He was also an examiner in the final-year medical examinations for both medical schools in 2017 and 2018. He was involved in postgraduate training as a clinical physician faculty member for SingHealth’s internal residency programme, and clinical core faculty member for SingHealth’s cardiology senior residency programme. He is currently a council member of the Heart Failure Society in Singapore, and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, and Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Ng Kwan Chung KennethMRCP (UK)

Dr Kenneth Ng is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. His interest is in caring for patients through preventive cardiology. With more than 10 years of experience in this area, Dr Ng has an interest in advanced heart failure, which he manages through artificial heart pumps, heart failure surgery and heart transplantation. Prior to his move to private practice, Dr Ng served as the director of the heart failure programme in the National Healthcare Group, Singapore from 2003 to 2007. He also previously served at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he was instrumental in establishing the heart failure programme as well as the surgical and mechanical assist device therapy programme. Upon his graduation from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 1992, Dr Ng obtained his postgraduate degrees in the UK and Singapore in 1998. He then went on to complete his cardiology advanced specialty training at TTSH. Following that, he left for the US under the Health Manpower Development Plan award. There, he underwent a 15-month fellowship programme at the Cleveland Clinic, where he focused on echocardiography and heart failure transplantation. In 2009, he returned to the same clinic for an observership programme in heart failure, transplantation and assist device therapy. He was a former visiting consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore and is a visiting consultant at the Gleneagles Jerudong Park Medical Centre, Brunei. He has many research articles on heart failure in peer-reviewed international cardiology journals as well as several book chapters to his name. In the ASEAN region, he is widely recognised as an expert in the field of heart failure and is a frequent invited lecturer at both local and regional conferences, such as the Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiology. At the international level, he has not only given lectures at meetings such as the American Congress of Cardiology annual scientific meeting, but also chaired meeting sessions at the International Society of Heart Lung Transplantation. He was the vice-president of the Heart Failure Society (Singapore) and co-chairman of the heart failure advisory committee, Singapore Cardiac Data Bank. Dr Ng is also a clinical tutor at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a chief instructor for the Advanced Cardiac Life Support course. He has been invited to Malaysia and Brunei to conduct the courses there. In addition, he is a board-certified cardiologist in adult comprehensive echocardiography in the US, which is issued by the National Board of Education.

Yeo Poh Shuan Daniel

Dr Daniel Yeo is a cardiologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in the treatment of all aspects of heart disease, and has special interests in treating heart failure and performing and interpreting echocardiograms (ultrasound test that creates images of the heart). He was the former head of the heart failure service in the department of cardiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), and director of the heart failure disease management programme at the National Healthcare Group, Singapore. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years. Dr Yeo completed his bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery at the University of Western Australia in 1999. He then completed specialist training in internal medicine, followed by advanced specialty training in cardiology at TTSH in Singapore, and subsequently completed a 1-year advanced fellowship in heart failure and cardiac transplantation at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, US. He also undertook simultaneous training in transoesophageal echocardiography at the Cleveland Clinic. In 2012, he obtained a diploma in adult echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography, US. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore, and fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is a founding member of the Singapore Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, and a founding member of the Heart Failure Society (Singapore). Dr Yeo taught medical students and junior doctors when he was a clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He was a local site principal investigator for several pivotal clinical trials in current cardiology such as the PARADIGM study, IMPROVE-IT study, LEPHT study, SHOP study, ASIAN-HF study at TTSH. He has presented new research at many of the major international cardiology conferences, and has authored and co-authored many research papers.
