Dr Sandeep Uppal is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. Though he manages a range of ENT procedures, his interests are in facial plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic surgery and advanced sinus surgery. Dr Uppal was the former head of the department of otolaryngology at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He was also the head of facial plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic service there. He graduated from the University of Delhi and underwent training in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at Lady Irwin Hospital, India. He then pursued advanced specialisation in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery in the UK. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He did a 1-year fellowship under the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and trained in Germany, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, UK and the US. Dr Uppal also completed a 1-year fellowship in advanced rhinology by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and honed his skills in a variety of complex procedures. He has been practising medicine for more than 30 years. Besides his clinical work, he has an interest in research and received a training fellowship to conduct research on the genetic basis of ENT diseases. He has 38 scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed international journals covering subjects such as facelifts, rhinoplasty, septoplasty, blepharoplasty, sleep apnoea and functional endoscopic sinus surgery. Dr Uppal also has been invited to make more than 175 presentations at over 75 scientific events worldwide including international conferences and workshops, symposia and live surgical courses. He is also vice-president of the Pan Asia Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and serves as the vice-chairman of Facial Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery India Trust.
